
Katey Hawes
Katey is a Physical Therapist, Yoga Therapist, Yoga teacher, Pilates instructor, and Thai Yoga Practitioner. She believes that no relationship is more important than the one with your own body.
As a Pilates and Movement teacher, Katey incorporates many years of training and experience to help students understand their body’s movements and work towards their goals through a balance of alignment, strengthening, lengthening, and breath awareness. She is highly skilled at adapting exercises to individual needs so that students can make progress injury and pain-free to maximize their life enjoyment.
As a Yoga teacher Katey strives to provide an environment where students feel safe and supported. She uses in-depth knowledge of the physical body to observe students’ individual needs and to keep them safe while finding a balance between offering instruction and allowing students to feel and explore their postures independently.
Katey has been practicing as a physical therapist for the past 20+ years. She has a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA, and a Bachelor of Science, in Physical Education / Sports Management from the State University of New York at Cortland College, Cortland, NY. She received her 200-hour Yoga Teacher certification from the Shala Institute of Yoga in Bridgton, ME, and her Advanced Teacher of Therapeutic Yoga Certification from Integrative Yoga Therapy. She is an experienced 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500) and a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She has completed a variety of Rehabilitative and Therapeutic Pilates trainings over the years including certification through APPI (Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute).
